Rules and Itinerary

Welcome to Battle of the Beat Makers, where producers from around the globe will compete for a total prize pool of $10,000, including $5,000 in cash and $5,000 in prizes.

The submission period is now open and will close on March 31st!  On April 8th, the list of Top 128 or Top 256 producers will be announced!

Rules:

  1. To enter, producers must register online and pay a submission fee of $20 USD.
  2. Each producer must submit two beats (samples allowed) by March 31st. Mp3 files only (10 MB Maximum). Each beat should be 60 seconds.
  3. A panel of esteemed judges will screen the submitted beats leading up to the April 8th announcement.
  4. Top 128 or Top 256 Producers must complete their registration payment of $200 USD by May 15th to secure their spot for the Pre-Screening Livestream, a pivotal stage where the Top 32 Producers will be selected to compete live in Toronto on August 24th.
  5. The Pre-Screening Livestream will take place on May 18th and 19th, with Producers screened live by judges based on Quality, Creativity, Originality, and Mix. Only one of the two submitted beats will be played.
  6. On June 1st, the Top 32 Producers will be announced and invited to compete live in Toronto on August 24th.
  7. All 32 Producers must submit 12-15 beats by August 17th for the live competition. Wav or Mp3 files allowed.
  8. Reserves should bring their beats on a USB stick

Itinerary: August 24th: Guest Judges: TBA

  1. The 32 Producers will be paired up tournament-style for the live competition.
  2. In the first round (Chopping Block), 32 Producers will battle with the best of 3 beats, each lasting 45   seconds. The winners will proceed to the next round.
  3. In the second round (Execution), the 16 remaining Producers will battle with the best of 1 beat, each lasting 45 seconds. The winners will advance.
  4. In the third round (Quarter Finals), the 8 remaining Producers will battle with the best of 1 beat, each lasting 45 seconds. The winners move forward.
  5. In the fourth round (Semi Finals), the 4 remaining Producers will battle with the best of 1 beat, each lasting 45 seconds. The winners proceed to the Final round.
  6. In the Final round (Finals), the 2 Finalists will battle with the best of 3 beats, each lasting 60 seconds. The winner will be crowned the World Champion.
  7. Judges will evaluate based on Quality, Creativity, Originality, Mix, and Crowd Reaction.
